Day 120 - Tucker

I was messing around with my phone while we were outside playing today, and despite taking heaps of photos, this is the only one that turned out half decent. I was so excited when we originally upgraded our phones, but the picture quality isn't all that fantastic. Luckily Tucker is a cute subject and was happy to pose for some photos.

Day 119 - Disappointment

I had to call Harvey Norman today as Maddie's tallboy is a little bit dodgy. The second draw doesn't open properly, it has a cracked handle and the paint job around the top edges isn't very good. Thankfully they will replace it for us, so we just have to wait until they get a new one in, and hope that it is better. Maddie woke a couple of times last night, but it was much easier to settle her as when she protested I was able to just climb into bed with her and go back to sleep.

Day 118 - Taking Decisions Out Of My Hands

Nathan, Mark and I assembled Maddie's big girl bed today, it took ages and was actually quite difficult to do. Once we put the sheets and doona on it, Maddie decided that she had to sleep in it, and went to bed without any trouble. It was just as I suspected it would be, with me crying my eyes out once she went to bed and Maddie going to sleep with no issue at all. I am pleased that she was happy to transition without any issue, but the room she has moved into is the coldest in the house and currently has no curtains. We will have to work out what we don't to do with the heater and the curtains pretty quickly now.

A few weeks ago we bought a Gro-Clock for when Maddie does move into this room, she was so excited to help unpack the clock and absolutely loved it when we turned it onto its night setting. I hope that tonight she doesn't try to get up too much and that in the morning she waits for the clock to turn to yellow before she gets up.

Day 117 - Maddie's Big Girl Furniture

After waiting around all day for Harvey Norman to show up and deliver the furniture Nathan purchased earlier this week, it all arrived at about 2. I can not believe how heavy each part is, the tall boy weighs about 50 kgs. I managed to get the bedside draws unpacked before Nathan got home, so I pretended that I assembled them myself, rather than admitting that all I had to do was unpack it and put the handles on the right way. I think that he was a little concerned about having to build the tallboy as he didn't even go to have a look at it when he got home.

Lucy and the girls popped over for a visit today, Maddie was pretty pumped to see them and had a great time playing with them and loved her presents. She was pretty excited to see all of the boxes in her new room, but seemed a little disappointed that all of her dancing space was gone.

Day 116 - Tantie, Tantie, Tantie

Well Maddie still isn't better and this photo shows the day that we have had. Poor chicken did tell me that she didn't want to go out, but we needed food and milk and some panadol for her so we had no choice.

Day 115 - Purple

I'm on yet another fad diet health kick this week and this is a picture of this mornings breakfast. It is one of the 'Healthy Mummy' smoothies, it sure was tasty!

Day 114 - Mess

The Zoo must be Maddie's new favourite location as she hardly came out of it today, she is still sick and just wanted to hang around the house all day, so while she watched telly I worked. Sure was a quiet day, hopefully she is feeling much better soon.

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

Day 113 - Windy

Back up to Karabar to get essentials like tissues and chicken noodle soup for Maddie today, she is obsessed with them, hopefully they make her feel better.
Maddie's latest 'quirk' is holding onto her hair when ever we are out in the wind as she doesnt want it to blow away. No amount of explaining that it isnt going to go anywhere will prompt her to let it go. Kids do such funny things sometimes.

Day 112 - Sick

Poor Miss Maddie has woken up sick today. She is pretty unhappy so we only ducked out for the necessary time to do the shopping. It seems like even that was too much for her, as she fell asleep between the house and Karabar shops!

Day 111 - Soy Hot Chocolate

After running around all morning not actually doing anything we thought that we would stop in Fyshwick for lunch. It was cold and Maddie was fascinated with my mocha, so we thought we would try her on a hot chocolate made on soy. It was a hit, Maddie absolutely loved it and had to share a taste with Nathan and I. It has to be one of the yuckiest tasting drinks that I have ever had, and it took every bit of my control to smile, swallow and tell Maddie that I liked it too. Gross!

Day 110 - Shelves

Nanna went home today, after helping me look after Maddie while I got as much as I could done. Today Nathan put up the shelves for Maddie's ornaments while I tried to find new homes for the remaining things that are still in the study. It is a lot harder than I thought it would be as everywhere is full and there is still not enough room for the things that we do have. Maddie's current room is almost empty aside from a few things in the wardrobe, the collection of odd socks and the furniture she still uses, and I have to say keeping it that way is a challenge. I can not wait for all of the new storage space that is coming soon. It will be AWESOME!

Day 109 - I HATE Blue Tape

I thought that blue tape was supposed to be paint safe, and would stop paint from peeling when you remove the paint, at least that is what they market it is as being for. So why is it that when I lifted the tape from around the window I took a few long strips of paint off too? Not happy about it, lucky that Nanna is still here so I can re-paint the window frame. I suppose it is better than the tape residue that I have all around the wardrobe as I was too impatient and started taping with packing tape.

I am loving the crisp white colour that Nathan has chosen for inside the house, but I am not sold on the window frame still being brown. I will have to get talking to Nathan about what we are going to do with the colour of the old windows in the house.

Day 108 - Extension

It seems like it has been ages since I have taken any shots of the house, so I thought that I would post one for today. Some of the higher bits have been added on to the roof structure now, and it is coming together quite nicely, I cant wait for the roof to be on, as it seems like the next few steps after this are fairly easy and will make a huge difference to the structure. I have almost finished the painting of Maddie's new room, it is pretty exciting getting the room painted.

Day 107 - Poor Tucker

It was such a nice day so I thought that we would spend some time outside working on the driveway. Maddie loves wearing her helmet, although today she didn't get on her bike, so I am really not sure of the purpose for her wearing it. Today when Tucker brought his ball up to be thrown, Maddie had better idea's and instead started to bury it as poor Tucker watched. That ball is his favourite so he didn't take his eyes off it, and as soon as Maddie stood up to talk to me he swooped in to pick it up and go hide it. It was pretty funny, Maddie wasnt impressed and Tucker went and grabbed a different ball to play with.

Nanna is visiting us at the moment so that I can get Maddies room painted. Hopefully I can get it finished and have her ready to move into it by the end of the month.

Day 106 - Weird Child

The last few cupboards that I have assembled for the shed, Maddie has been particularly attached to and this one is no different. Maddie insists on squishing herself into part of it and having the doors shut and she will happily stay in there for ages. I am feeling claustrophobic just thinking about her squashed in there, especially as she still wanted to sit in it, once it was right at the back of the shed, which would make it so much darker.

Monday, 15 April 2013

Day 105 - Scaffolding

The scaffolding is pretty much up so the builder army can get to the higher parts of the house. I can not believe how bit it all is and how much metal there is to make it. It sure will make it a lot easier for the roof work to be done, and for the cladding, fascia and eaves to go up.

Sunday, 14 April 2013

Day 104 - Dessert

'Lactose Free' products are getting to be much more readily available these day's, which is awesome as it means that Maddie doesn't have to miss out on most things. She was particularly impressed with her dessert tonight, having icecream with her fruit. Turns out though, that Maddie no longer likes Kiwi fruit, fussy little chicken!

Saturday, 13 April 2013

Day 103 - Fairy Garden

Kev and Ali from next door had their house warming party tonight so we popped over for a little visit. Maddie had a great time on the swings and was happy in her outfit until Elsie arrived in a fairy dress. Luckily we live close as I had to go home and get her a new outfit so she could be a fairy too.

Day 102 - Knock Knock

Maddie has picked up telling knock, knock jokes from somewhere, so tonight she sat under the dining table and told mummy or daddy aligator jokes and laughed as though they were the funniest things ever. It was so cute that I was too busy videoing it and didnt think to take a photo for my blog. so this fuzzy picture is from the computer as i played the video to get my photo for the day

Day 101 - Racing The Kids

Big W have kitty litter on special this week so we headed out to Majura park nice and early to get some and meet Leah and Grace. As we haven't been to lollypops in ages we gave it a go to see how the girls would go and if it was any cleaner. It was awesome, the kids played well without our help most of the time and it was 100% cleaner than our last visit. Its such a shame though, that so many other parents don't watch their kids, and that those little kids are such naughty monsters. One kids pegged a ball and Maddie which connected with her arm, which she brushed off before he did it again and clocked her in the nose. Poor Maddie was very sore and upset and the mother was oblivious to that incident as well as the little turd seeming to target her a lot of the rest of the time we were there.

Maddie and Grace really wanted to play on the cars but couldn't find a time that they were free. This problem sure did make me aware of the kid of person that I am, when I nearly stopped another kid from getting on them as Grace ran over. I nearly intentionally tripped over a 3-4 year old. Yep, I really did stick my leg out and only just pull it in, in time.  When the girls did manage to get the cars both at the same time, Leah kept them from continually switching in and out of the cars by racing them. I wonder what the girls were thinking when they looked at each other here.

Day 100 - Turf

The turf that I layed yesterday requires watering twice a day for two weeks to help it settle and grow in the area. I think it looks a lot better than either the bark that was there before the flooding or the giant hole left after the flooding. I have created a bit of a dip in the end of this area for extra water to sit and also to help it flow away from the shed a little bit. It is crazy that I am thinking about an area for tiny amounts of water, that in the scheme of things wont actually be much help. Oh, look there is more building stuff! It's kinda cool having it all here but crazy how much there actually is, and how much room it all takes up.

Day 99 - Metal in my way

I started to lay some turf today to start tidying up the yard, but everywhere I turn there is either timber pieces, timber frames or steel scaffolding pieces. Still I managed to roll out 5 rolls of turf in the centre of the driveway, tidying it up and hopefully preventing some mess if we flood again. It sure does look tidier, but it will be ages before I finish it, as I dont want to go down too far before the cladding is put on.

Day 98 - Master's

Dodgy photo of the new doors I want to put up in the house. They will be painted in high gloss white and hopefully go in easily everywhere as we finish parts of the house. Thank you Leah for shopping with us today, and for bringing home my things in the ute.

Day 97 - Mackenzie's 1st Birthday

Today was Mackenzie's first birthday and boy was Maddie excited to be going to another party. She picked out her dress almost as soon as she woke up and couldn't wait to go. Once we were there she went straight to the balloon's and then quickly onto the trampoline for a good jump. We really do need to look at getting her a trampoline, but we have to get so much done to the yard before that can happen.

Mark brought home some scaffolding this afternoon from his friend at the coast. I can not believe how many pieces there are to it, and how heavy it all is. For the most part I stayed inside with Maddie while it was being unpacked so I was out of the way. I did end up coming outside for a while after I heard a huge crash as one of the pallets loaded with steel pieces came crashing down the truck and onto the driveway nearly taking out Nathan and Mark after it got loose from the winch. Was pretty funny to hear about, but I imagine at the time having a couple of tonnes of metal chasing you down the truck bed would be pretty scary.

Day 96 - Yum

We asked Maddie if she wanted some Ice-Cream today and got a very excited yes answer. She was pretty stoked when she was able to get the lid off herself and thought she would just help herself while I was getting her bowl. Thank goodness for Sorbets and lactose free ice creams that Maddie can eat without getting an upset tummy.

Today was neighbour day, or at least I think it was. The community house a few doors down invited us over for morning tea. It was a nice event to get to know our neighbours better and their yard is awesome, so many colours and some great ideas for things to do to our yard in the future. I just have to convince Nathan that colours are good and can look great in a back yard.

Day 95 - Chores

Entertaining a tired kid is hard, so I thought I would teach her how to wash her dishes after lunch today. She was pretty impressed with the task, and scrubbed all of the items for at least 5 minutes each. Certainly killed a bit of time, but sure did make a mess, we had water everywhere!

Day 94 - Crazy Sleeper

I am seriously wondering why we put a pillow and blankets in the cot for Maddie, clearly she doesnt appear to want them. We are having some serious issues with Maddies sleep at the moment with her refusing to go to sleep for anywhere between 2 & 4 hours of a night, and then waking up and staying awake for about 2 hours at a time. We are all exhausted and it is making the books hard to do. We are going to have to look at finding some way of fixing her sleep issues, we are just too tired to keep going on with no sleep

Day 93 - "It's A Horsey Town"

Driving down to K-Mart tonight we saw a horse and rider crossing the main street from the police station corner. I sure was shocked to see it, as was Maddie, although she was soon exicted and yelled out "Its a horsey town," it was pretty funny.

Day 92 - Oops

WOW is this a terrible logo or what! This picture was on my facebook feed today, I can not believe that this got past everyone in their advertising team.

Day 91 - Shhh

After what seemed like a very long drive we made it to Cooma alive before we stopped for Breakfast/Lunch at about 2pm. We were all packed and ready to go this morning when it was discovered that the boat trailer had a broken bearing. Luckily the service station in Bermagui was open and had a replacement one, so the boys could fix it and they could head back to Ulladulla. The traffic was unbelievable, people are idiots, there is no other word for it that I can think of, that Maddie can read when she looks through these books. People were passing other people who were doing the speed limit on corners, and where there was absolutely no visibility  No wonder the road tolls are so high!

This photo is of Maddie telling Nathan to be quiet as she was hiding from me. You have to love the concept that if she cant see me, I clearly can not see her. She was not impressed when she turned around to find me standing there, so she ran off to hide behind a flag pole.
